Congratulations you have been chosen to create the school of the future. Protecting the environment is a high priority and your new school with be the ultimate in green technology. THE TASK
Create a school of the future incorporating green technology.
- Your team needs to design a school that reduces its energy footprint;
- You will design a PreK- 5 Elementary school
- Your school must have eight green initiatives
- Your school will have an energy mission statement
- A name that matches the school mission
- A press release promoting your school
THE PROCESS
To accomplish the task you will work with a team of classmates who specialize in different green technologies. Together you will design the ultimate playground that goes with your school.
Architect – Design layout of school
Energy Engineer – Research energy sources for electrical and heat
Landscape Designer – Design the plants, gardens and trees
Resource Specialist – Pre-cycling and recycling plan
GREEN EDUCATION
- First you’ll be assigned to role for a school team
- Work with the others in your same job to research your topic both in the past and current day.
- Create a poster outlining the information you gathered
- Students graduate from their specialty school
SCHOOL GREEN TEAM
- Work with the different specialists to design your future school
- Develop two green initiatives that relate to your specialty.
- Present your final project in a team presentation.
Search through the energy links and collect information on your topic. Create a large org chart with a topic web. Be sure everyone on your team understands their role on the school team. Once you are finished researching you can go to work with your Green School Team. Together you will create a Green School Design and plan to present to the class.
