Invention Convention for Third and Fourth Graders

We have thirty-two 3rd and 4th grade problem solvers and inventors getting ready for this year’s Invention Convention at the University of Connecticut in April. Our first club meeting was yesterday and students analyzed kitchen and office gadgets to see what innovations design engineers made. Each student will be creating an invention that has a utility and solves a real problem. It can be an improvement to an existing object or a completely new invention. The final design must fit in a space that is two feet by two feet and can’t cost over $25. Below are the meeting dates for the club and some pictures of Discovery inventors.

January 20th – Brainstorming
February 10th – Intent to Invent Due
February 17th – Workshop/Share
February 24th – Workshop/Share
March 16 – Presentation Practice (12:15-2:00)
