A sailor in the Volvo Ocean race is presumed lost at sea. The Discovery fifth graders have been following this around the world sailing race and unfortunately real life tragedy struck. John Fisher, who was racing on Sun Hung Kai/Scallywag, went overboard in 35-knot winds and rough seas on Monday. The boats are racing from New Zealand to Brazil and the students are tracking the ships and learning about the crews and race. The crew is continuing across the Pacific with heavy hearts and we wish John Fisher’s family, the sailing world, and the British nation our prayers.
